Meet The Brewers
The first thirty minutes of the event will offer you a chance to mingle and speak directly with the brewers.
Shaun Hill from Hill Farmstead Brewery – The Hill Farmstead Brewery was awarded World’s Best Brewery in 2013 by RateBeer.com, just two years after being awarded New Brewer of the Year in 2011. While most of their beers can only be purchased at their brewery and select Vermont restaurants and pubs, visitors flock to Greensboro to sample and take home bottles of some of the highest rated beer in the world.
John Kimmich from The Alchemist Brewery – The Alchemist currently focuses brewing one beer – Heady Topper. The Double India Pale Ale is considered by many to the world’s best beer and continues to score near perfect scores by craft beer enthusiasts. As many can remember, the Alchemist Brew Pub in Waterbury was destroyed by Hurricane Irene. Craft beer fans around the world, and especially within Vermont, are grateful that John and Jen Kimmich were able to continue brewery operations at the cannery after the devastating loss.
Matt Cohen from Fiddlehead Brewing Company – Fiddlehead Brewery doesn’t bottle or can any of their beer, so you need to visit their Shelburne brewery or any of the local restaurants that offer their beer. Matt started work at The Shed Restaurant and Brewery and eventually reached the position of head brewer at Magic Hat before he decided to open his own brewery.
Matt Nadeau from Rock Art Brewery – Rock Art Brewery started in Matt Nadeau’s basement in 1997 and later moved to Morrisville in 2001. Rock Art Brewery has created several limited edition brews to help non-profit organizations and local businesses raise funds for worthy causes. This year their Journey’s End Kolsch helps raise money for the Vermont River Conservancy to purchase a popular swimming hole in Johnson.
Sample Vermont Beer
Hill Farmstead Brewery, The Alchemist Brewery, Fiddlehead Brewing Company, and Rock Art Brewery will bring samples of their beer to share. The list of which beers will be available will be revealed at a later date closer to the event. Beer will be poured as the brewers take part in the panel discussion and questions and answers sessions.
The four brewers will lead an engaging and incisive discussion about the rise of craft beer in Vermont. The panel will be moderated by VPT host Rob Michalak, the current Director of Social Mission & PR at Ben & Jerry’s and former WPTZ news reporter, anchor, and director. The panel discussion and questions and answers will be about ninety minutes of the two hour event.
